Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) has established a strategic partnership with Central Queensland University (CQUniversity), Australia, through an Exchange and Signing Ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) held recently at the Banquet Hall, Tun Abdul Razak Chancellery, UMPSA Pekan.
The ceremony was attended by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ts. Dr. Yatimah Alias, alongside the Vice-Chancellor and President of CQUniversity, Professor Nick Klomp, and delegations from both institutions.
Also present was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Dato’ Ir. Ts. Dr Ahmad Ziad Sulaiman.
According to Professor Ts. Dr. Yatimah, this collaboration is a vital step in strengthening UMPSA's international relations, particularly in the fields of Engineering, Technology, and advanced TVET on a global scale.
"This partnership focuses on the development of joint academic programmes, such as dual PhD and Master’s degrees, student and staff mobility, as well as collaborative research supported by matching grants," she said.
"Furthermore, UMPSA will also send non-academic staff to participate in mobility programmes at CQUniversity as part of efforts to empower professional development and international exposure among the university's support workforce.
"UMPSA is currently actively developing expertise in the Aerospace sector, including drone technology, unmanned systems, and new aviation technologies that hold the potential for joint exploration with CQUniversity."
She added that among the initiatives being developed is a remote pilot training programme offering locally and internationally recognised certification through the UMPSA Centre for Advanced Mobility and Aerospace.
At the same time, Professor Ts. Dr Yatimah emphasised that the true value of this cooperation lies not merely in the signed documents, but in the implementation and the long-term impact to be achieved together.
This collaboration is expected to open more strategic opportunities in education, research, and talent development, thereby strengthening the international standing of both institutions.
