UMPSA Participates in the ASEAN Urban Rail Transit Supply and Demand Matchmaking Conference 2026

Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) participated in the ASEAN Urban Rail Transit Supply and Demand Matchmaking Conference 2026, organised by the ASEAN Metro Cooperation Committee, China Association of Metros. The theme of the conference was “Connecting ASEAN through Rail: Deepening Cooperation, Sharing Progress and Pursuing Win-Win Development.”
The primary objective of the conference was to strengthen relations and practical cooperation between China and ASEAN countries in the urban rail transport sector, while providing a professional platform to promote intergovernmental engagement, technical exchanges, project cooperation and joint talent development. The conference focused on several key areas, including:
- Rail transport planning in ASEAN countries;
- Project cooperation and development;
- Smart operation and maintenance (O&M); and
- Talent development and upskilling in the rail transport sector.
Various activities were held throughout the conference, including keynote addresses, dedicated technical exchange sessions, government-private sector matchmaking sessions, achievement-sharing sessions and technical site visits. The conference brought together experts, government representatives, industry representatives and key stakeholders to discuss developments in the rail transport sector and explore opportunities for regional cooperation.
The Malaysian delegation comprised representatives from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), the Ministry of Transport Malaysia, Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (MRT Corp.) and Prasarana Malaysia Berhad.
During the conference, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), represented by the Dean of the Academy of Advanced TVET, Datuk Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Shahrir Mohd Sani, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for Cooperation with Liuzhou Railway Vocational Technical College (VTC). The agreement will cover academic activities, training, research, as well as student and staff mobility in the rail transport sector.
