Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) and Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA), Germany, renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today, reaffirming a long-standing strategic partnership that has spanned over 15 years.

The official signing ceremony symbolised the success of a cross-border academic collaboration that has significantly impacted student development, academic growth, and institutional advancement.

UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Yatimah Alias, described the MoU renewal as more than a formal agreement, rather, a transformative journey in global higher education.

“This collaboration is not merely an official agreement but a transformative journey that demonstrates how cross-border education can unlock opportunities, build confidence, and broaden our students' perspectives,” she remarked.

To date, a total of 269 alumni have graduated from the Dual Degree Programme between UMPSA and HKA in Mechatronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering, and Electrical (Electronics) Engineering with Honours. For the 2024 cohort, the graduate employability rate reached 100 percent, with 35 percent of graduates now employed in multinational companies.

One highlighted success story is Nur Khairiyah, a programme alumna currently serving as a Product and Process Engineer at VACUUMSCHMELZE (VAC) in Hanau, Germany.

The ceremony was also attended by HKA President, Prof. Dr. Rose Marie Beck, alongside senior university delegates. Both parties agreed to further explore new opportunities in academic collaboration, joint research, technology transfer, and student and staff mobility.

In closing, Prof. Dr. Yatimah expressed her aspiration for the partnership to continue flourishing and delivering long-term impact to both academic communities.

“By renewing this MoU, we are essentially renewing our shared commitment to grow together and make an even greater impact in the future,” she said, concluding her speech with an African proverb: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
