UMPSA Strengthens Academic & Research Links with Thaksin University

Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), through its Centre for Global Engagement and Centre for Mathematical Sciences, welcomed a delegation from Thaksin University, Thailand, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nopamas Pakkhem, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Digital Innovation, for an official visit to explore new opportunities in academic and research collaboration.
Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), through its Centre for Global Engagement and Centre for Mathematical Sciences, welcomed a delegation from Thaksin University, Thailand, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nopamas Pakkhem, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Digital Innovation, for an official visit to explore new opportunities in academic and research collaboration.
The visit began with Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Sham Mohamad, Dean of the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, presenting the centre’s academic strengths, research expertise, and contributions to advancing mathematics education and interdisciplinary studies.
This was followed by an overview of UMPSA’s vision and strategic direction, where Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Herma Dina Setiabudi, Director of UMPSA Global, highlighted the university’s expanding global footprint, key internationalisation efforts, collaborative networks, and flagship programmes that position UMPSA as a vibrant hub for cross-border education, research, and innovation.
The delegates also learned about UMPSA’s research ecosystem, presented by Associate Professor Dr. Norhayati Rosli, Director of the Research Management Centre, who outlined competitive grant opportunities, consultation services, and pathways to commercialisation that drive impactful, real-world research.
During the strategic discussion session, both institutions explored a broad range of potential collaborations, including student and staff mobility programmes (both inbound and outbound), international internships, matching grants for joint research, staff attachment schemes, Global Classroom initiatives, micro-credential programmes, and joint research.
This visit highlights UMPSA’s mission to foster impactful international partnerships that promote knowledge sharing, research advancement, and cultural exchange. By working closely with Thaksin University, UMPSA is opening new pathways to address regional and global challenges, drive innovation, and provide transformative learning experiences for students and academics alike.
